My Grandparents

I have been thinking of my Grandparents a lot lately and remembering different wonderful things....

Like the smell of their house (part coffee, part toast, part special only to them that I sometimes get randomly that makes my heart happy).

Grandma laughing so hard she cries, Grandma sleeping straight up with a cup of coffee in her hand (my Dad can do that too!), Grandpa up early with his bible, bringing you into discussion if you sat long enough.

Sitting around the gigantic kitchen table (that I now have) but miss that old green one!  Also a lot of KFC and card playing on that table.

Walking into Grandmas painting room and standing in awe of her creativity.

The family reunions spent at their house.  It was hot outside but super cold next to that air conditioning unit.  Or in the winter standing by that old tall heater in the corner.

Playing with my cousins --> The Haunted Upstairs, daring to run around Maw Maw and Paw Paws trailer, playing in the playhouse Grandpa built, running around in the field behind the house.  The classic Matthew joke "Why did the chicken cross the road?  To get to the mustard house"  and Aunt Tressie just rolling with laughter.

Laying down on that green shag carpeting playing with wooden blocks, listening to the stories of our parents childhood (the ones that are word-for-word memories because they were told every get together).  They must have had a great childhood.

Sleeping upstairs in that first bedroom, one hard bed--one soft bed, one huge, LOUD fan that helped us drift off to sleep.

Pretending we were spies looking down through the vent to hear all the adults talk in the kitchen.  We were so sneaky because the adults could never figure out where we were--or so we thought.

What wonderful grandparents we had and what a great loves story they had........
